I am currently finishing up a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at The University of Melbourne, working with Dr Iliana Medina Guzman. During this position I have been investigating parental investment and how parents can adapt their behaviour to protect their young from the warming climate. With a particular focus on nesting in superb fairy-wrens and also looking at the links between fecundity and nest evolution.
I hold a PhD from the Australian National University (ANU) supervised by Professor Naomi Langmore. The focus of my PhD research was on factors that influence maternal investment using the cooperatively breeding superb fairy-wren as a study system. I also investigated maternal investment in the superb fairy-wrens brood parasite, the Horsfield’s bronze-cuckoo. The co-evolution of these two species also features as part of my research.
Under the supervision of Professor Langmore and Dr Michelle Hall, the superb fairy-wren was also the study species for the honours thesis research I completed in 2016. This research investigated the superb fairy-wren song to elicit if an overlapping pair song can be defined as a duet or not.
Prior to my honours year I completed a Bachelor of Science with major in biology and a minor in genetics at the ANU. I have also worked as field assistant on a long term study on the superb fairy-wren.
